We are currently hiring an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Waiting Chef to join our front-of-house and kitchen service team.

Job Overview
The Waiting Chef plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the kitchen and front-of-house service. This role combines culinary knowledge and guest interaction, ensuring that dishes are delivered with accuracy, grace, and a clear understanding of the ingredients and story behind each plate.
You will work directly with Chef Alex Webb and the service team to uphold Orion’s exceptional standards — ensuring that every dish reaches the guest exactly as envisioned by the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordination Between Kitchen & Service
- Act as the main link between the kitchen pass and front-of-house team.
- Ensure dishes are delivered promptly, efficiently, and presented correctly.
- Communicate clearly with chefs and waiting staff during busy service periods.
- Maintain synchronization between kitchen timing and table service.
2. Guest Presentation & Engagement
- Present and explain dishes confidently to guests, including ingredients, allergens, and cooking techniques.
- Demonstrate full knowledge of the daily menu, specials, and wine pairings.
- Represent the kitchen’s craftsmanship with professionalism and enthusiasm.
3. Service Standards
- Deliver food with precision and attention to detail in line with fine-dining standards.
- Maintain table cleanliness and service flow in coordination with waiters and runners.
- Support the Restaurant Manager in ensuring smooth guest experiences throughout the meal.
4. Operational & Team Support
- Prepare and organize the pass area for service, ensuring plates are hot and ready.
- Assist with clearing courses and resetting tables when needed.
- Maintain communication between the kitchen and FOH to anticipate service demands.
- Support chefs during service peaks with basic plating or finishing tasks (as trained).
5. Hygiene & Compliance
- Adhere to all UK Food Hygiene and Safety regulations (HACCP, FSA, HSE).
- Follow correct handling, serving, and cleaning protocols.
- Ensure allergen awareness and labeling are communicated accurately to guests.
Requirements – Waiting Chef (Fine Dining UK Standards)
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a fine-dining, Michelin-level, or luxury restaurant environment.
- Strong understanding of modern British cuisine and fine-dining service etiquette.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence in guest interaction.
- Immaculate presentation and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of food allergens, menu structure, and service sequence.
Desirable Attributes
- Previous experience as a Chef Waiter, Food Runner, or Junior Waiter in a high-end setting.
- Culinary background or formal hospitality training (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
- Passion for gastronomy, storytelling, and enhancing guest experiences.
- Fluency in English (additional languages an advantage).
