Orion by Alex Webb is a new fine-dining destination in the United Kingdom, founded by Chef Alex Webb — the winner of MasterChef: The Professionals 2020. The restaurant celebrates modern British cuisine, combining artistic presentation, storytelling, and a deep respect for locally sourced seasonal ingredients.

As Orion prepares to open its doors, we are looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our kitchen brigade. This is a rare opportunity to work directly under Chef Webb’s mentorship in a creative, disciplined, and inspiring fine-dining environment.

Job Summary

As a Chef de Partie (CDP) at Orion by Alex Webb, you will be responsible for managing your assigned kitchen section, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the restaurant’s exacting fine-dining standards. You will collaborate closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef, maintaining precision, consistency, and creativity in every service.

This role requires a strong technical foundation, time management skills, and a passion for modern British cuisine.


Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Section Management

  • Take full ownership of your assigned section (meat, fish, garnish, larder, or pastry).
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes consistently to Michelin-level standards.
  • Maintain mise en place, freshness, and portion control at all times.
  • Ensure all food leaving your section meets Orion’s presentation and taste standards.

Team Collaboration

  • Work efficiently with the kitchen brigade, supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in daily operations.
  • Train and guide Commis Chefs, sharing technical knowledge and upholding Orion’s culinary vision.
  • Communicate effectively with other sections to ensure smooth service flow.

Quality Control & Hygiene

  • Adhere to all UK Food Safety and Hygiene standards, including HACCP and Allergen Control regulations.
  • Ensure daily cleaning routines and kitchen checklists are completed to Orion’s standards.
  • Maintain ingredient traceability, proper labeling, and storage.

Creativity & Menu Development

  • Contribute new ideas for seasonal dishes and daily specials.
  • Assist in testing, plating, and tasting sessions for menu evolution.
  • Stay informed about new techniques and ingredients to enhance culinary innovation.

Stock & Cost Management

  • Monitor stock rotation, minimize waste, and report shortages.
  • Support the Sous Chef with ordering and cost-control measures.

Requirements – Chef de Partie (UK Fine-Dining Standards)

Essential:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a CDP or Demi Chef in fine-dining or luxury hotel kitchens.
  • Solid understanding of modern British cuisine and classical French cooking fundamentals.
  • Formal culinary qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent diploma).
  • Excellent knife skills, attention to detail, and plating precision.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced fine-dining environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of food safety, allergen management, and HACCP compliance.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Michelin-starred or AA Rosette restaurants.
  • Creative approach to ingredients, presentation, and menu suggestions.
  • Passion for sustainability and zero-waste kitchen practices.
  • Familiarity with UK Hospitality Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ambition to grow into a Sous Chef or Senior CDP role within Orion.
